If you’re a huge Hocus Pocus fan AND you’re visiting Salem, then you’ll want to visit all of the fun filming locations, too! All of us 80’s and 90’s kids know the film is super festive, incredibly nostalgic, and a must-watch every single year during fall and Halloween! So if you visit Salem, these locations will definitely set the tone for all the spooky festivities in October!
Here’s a guide on where to find all of the Hocus Pocus Filming Locations in Salem, Massachusetts!
1. Alison’s House // The Ropes Mansion
The Ropes Mansion is the actual name of the building that was used to film Alison’s house. This is the scene when Dani is crying on a haystack and Max comes to comfort her while they’re out trick-or-treating. Then they enter the house to collect their candy and they realize it’s Alison’s house (Max’s high school crush).
Address: 318 Essex St. Salem, MA

2. Max & Dani’s House
This house is so iconic! So many scenes were filmed here! The Sanderson sisters fly over the house, they break in and kidnap Dani and Thackery, Dani hides in the closet to scare Max, amongst many other memorable scenes.
Address: 4 Ocean Ave. Salem, MA

3. Thackery Binx Cottage // Salem Pioneer Village
The opening scene of Hocus Pocus takes place in the 1600’s and shows Thackery Binx’s cottage and Emily being lured by the Sanderson sisters. They filmed this over at Pioneer Village, an outdoor museum where you can walk through a reconstruction of what a village might have looked like all those years ago. You can visit this museum and explore the cottage that was used for the movie.
Address: 98 West Ave. Salem, MA

4. Old Town Hall // The Salem Museum
The Town Hall is probably one of my favorite scenes! Bette Midler gives an outstanding performance when she sings “I Put a Spell on You” while the kids are trying to warn their parents about the witches. It’s a scene that will forever go down in history and it was so cool to visit this spot.
Address: 32 Derby Square, Salem, MA

5. Salem Common
Remember when Max Dennison flirts with Alison and he gives her his phone number in front of the whole class? And then he runs into her at the park and she says “trick-or-treat” as she returns his phone number? Yeah, that was at the Salem Common, a large park in the heart of the city. It’s so pretty, especially in the fall. I’m sure you remember the fall foliage in that scene, it looked amazing!
Address: N Washington Square, Salem, MA
