7 Helpful Tips For Growing Your Pinterest

7 Helpful Tips For Growing Your Pinterest - Pinterest tips, blogging tips, Tailwind tips

In this blog post I’ll be sharing 7 Helpful Tips For Growing Your Pinterest account! Whether you’re a blogger and you want to drive more traffic to your website, or you have a small business and you’re trying to drive more sales, Pinterest is the perfect tool to do that!

Unlike Instagram or Facebook, Pinterest will continue to show your content over and over again! On Instagram, you post a photo and then it kind of just gets buried. But Pinterest works more as a search engine, so you always have the opportunity to be discovered! This is why Pinterest is so helpful and important!

My Pinterest account grew from 20k monthly views to 3.2 million monthly views within 6-8 months just by following these 7 helpful tips! And it didn’t end there, my blog traffic also increased drastically – and most of it was coming from Pinterest! So, let’s dive in! Here are:

7 Helpful Tips For Growing Your Pinterest

1. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BUSINESS ACCOUNT

First things first, you HAVE to have a business account, this is crucial. Go to your personal Pinterest profile, click on the top right arrow, select “settings,” then “account settings,” and, finally, scroll down and select “convert to business account.”

2. CLAIM YOUR WEBSITE AND YOUR SOCIALS

It’s important that you claim your website and connect your socials so that any pins that come from your website or from your socials show up next to your name and profile picture when they are pinned! In other words, you will always get credit for your work!

You can do this by going to your settings, then select “claim,” and then follow the instructions under “claim website.”

3. ENABLE RICH PINS

Rich Pins basically tell instagram that you are creating original content and that you are the owner of that content and website. Rich pins also give more information about your post and your audience is much more likely to click on your images if they prove to be trustworthy.

This step is a bit tedious but here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Download the Yoast plugin for WordPress users.
  • Under the Yoast plugin tab, select “Facebook,” and make sure you have “Add Open Graph Meta Data” enabled.
  • Now copy any link from your website on the Pinterest Validator page, and that’s it!

4. OPTIMIZE YOUR NAME AND BIO WITH KEYWORDS

Instead of just displaying your name, try adding keywords to your title. For example, my website name is Cindyycheeks, but instead of just displaying that name on Pinterest, I added “cindyycheeks – Travel & Fashion Blogger.” This will tell Pinterest to show you as an option every time someone searches for your specialty.

The same goes for your bio, you can add a short description of your business, what you offer, or what you promote. In mine I mention travel, outfits, and blogging.

Think about it like this, which keywords do you want to rank under? Maybe you’re a web designer so you add the keyword “web design.” Or maybe you’re a photographer, so you add the keyword “couple’s photography.” Whatever keywords you choose, make sure they are directly related to your content and niche!

5. ADD KEYWORDS TO YOUR BOARD DESCRIPTIONS

You also have to add keywords to your board descriptions. For example, if I make a San Francisco board, I’ll add keywords like, “San Francisco travel,” “San Francisco photography,” and “San Francisco outfits.” Again, make sure your keywords are actually related to your board content!

You can get keyword ideas by using the Pinterest search bar. Type something related to your business and then study the keywords that pop up related to what you typed. For example, if you have a jewelry business and you type in “jewelry,” other options like “jewelry displays” and “jewelry organization” might pop up. USE THOSE KEYWORDS!

7. FOLLOW SIMILAR ACCOUNTS

It’s also a good idea to support other Pinterest users and to engage within your community. It’s very likely that they will support you in return.
